Associational Meeting at FBC Big Spring at 12 Noon.
Hello Pastors and Churches!
I was born in upstate New York. My biological father abandoned the family while we lived in Newport, Rhode Island. During our time in Rhode Island, my mother met a Texan, remarried, he adopted my sister Barbara and me, and then my mother, sister, and myself by train to live in Odessa, Texas while he was at sea. As a Navy “brat,” we travel all over the nation.
I gave my life to the Lord in Odessa, Texas during my first-grade year. I was baptized in Norfolk, Virginia in 1978, licensed to preach from Northside Baptist Church in Odessa, and Ordained in Missouri. I graduated with my undergraduate from Midwestern (now Spurgeon) college in Kansas City, Missouri and received my Master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. We come to Big Spring from Bethel Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.
A little about my family:
My wife Tena was born in San Diego, California but calls Burkburnett home. We were married in Norfolk, Virginia and have been married since 1987. We have three children. Our oldest child is Kathleen Leigh (KayLeigh) Faris who was born in Odessa but resides with us in Big Spring. Josiah Andrew Faris was born in Odessa and lives with his wife Jessie in Wichita Falls. Our youngest child, Rebecca Renee Darnell, was born in Fort Worth and now lives with her husband Daniel in Burkburnett. Rebecca and Daniel have one son, Raphael, who is now deceased. We are thankful that all our children are involved in church and serve Jesus.
We are thankful that the Lord has called us to serve the pastor and churches in Crossroads of West Texas! We seek to always be “Gospel Centered” and “Gospel Advancing,” in all that we do as an association for the glory of God!
Serving Together,
Brother Glenn
2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NASB)
Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you.
Joyce Johnson became the CBA office administrator in 2021. Joyce retired from the Big Spring VA as a nurse. Joyce is a member of Salem Baptist Church where she is the church clerk and the church pianist. Joyce is widowed and has two children and two grandchildren. She is active in our local BSM and our local senior ministries.

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures.
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace.
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable.
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.
The first day of the week is the Lord’s Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord’s Day should be commensurate with the Christian’s conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
